Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night. (Rainer Maria Rilke)

After the Storm

Ugh!  We had a big storm yesterday.  It hit around noon and I really shouldn't complain, we didn't get any major damage.

Just lots of debris that I have to get my hiney out there and pick up. In all honesty, I should have pulled those dead palm fronds down before, but I was being lazy as I didn't want to drag out the ladder.

There's no getting out of maintenance work and I know that.

I don't even want to show you the rest of the yard, it's full of downed branches and flattened plants.  Sigh...and we might get a repeat performance tonight.

But as I stood looking out at the messy yard, I did notice a few spots of beauty.  The sun hitting this Ti plant and glowing such an intense color of pink.  Highlighted against the different colors of green in the background.

And this bougainvillea being lit up by the afternoon sun.

I'm grateful we didn't have houses blown down, roofs torn off and cars turned upside down.  Not far from here people are still suffering from a storm earlier this week and hadn't even got their roofs repaired before being hit by this one.  Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Truly, I'm feeling very blessed.

Hi Lynn! Your sunlit photos are just gorgeous. I'm so glad you didn't suffer any major damage. We have lots of oak limbs down, thankfully, just small stuff. So, I guess I'll have to get my hiney in gear too (lol)._Janice

Lovely photos of beauty after the storm. Friday we got hit by a horrific storm, complete with tornado warnings, which freaked me out. This morning there was another storm coming through with a tornado warning as well. I read later that 2 people were killed early this morning in Sarasota from a tornado there.

My heart and prayers go out for families and friends of these two.

I'm glad you didn't have any damages and I am thankful I didn't either.

Cold weather is moving down.

Have a nice week ~ FlowerLady

Hi Daisy, Janice, Lorraine and Susan! Thank you all for your concern and comments! We were very lucky and it's been quite a week with tornado watches and warnings, but I'm hoping it's all over. It's cooled down quite a lot and I'm having to bring in some of the orchids tonight! I'm so happy none of you got hit very hard either! :)

Hi Lynn! Somehow I missed this post the other day! That really was a horrible storm wasn't it? Luckily, like you it just resulted in a big mess to deal with but nothing major. Awful what happened further up the coast to you too. At least with a hurricane you have some warning but those tornadoes and downbursts are just scary. I love the photos of your garden - you have such beautiful colors and everything looks so tropical. We go a little flat up here at this time of the year but hopefully in another month it should start to green up.
Always enjoy your posts!

Hi Kate! Thank you, you are so very nice! Yes, the tornadoes are terrifying to me too. And please, no worries about missing one of my posts, lol. I'm trying to blog a little more this year as I had not made an effort during the end of last year. I hope to be revamping it a bit as well. I think it needs some freshening up - maybe some new colors! We are warming up today - hurray!
